Background
TerraDT and Nordic Cryosphere Digital Twin (NOCOS DT), two leading initiatives at the forefront of digital twin development for the cryosphere, are joining forces in a joint interactive workshop to explore how digital twin technologies are advancing our understanding of sea ice dynamics in the Arctic, Baltic, and beyond. The two-day event hosted by Tallinn University of Technology (and online) combines NOCOS DT's final event, showcasing the six sea ice research solutions produced in the project, with TerraDT's first sea ice impact sector workshop.
Who should join?
Climate and polar scientists interested in high-resolution modelling of sea ice, ocean–ice–atmosphere interactions, and Arctic climate dynamics
Maritime and shipping industry professionals seeking safer navigation routes in polar regions and improved sea-ice forecasts
Policy makers and environmental monitoring agencies working on climate adaptation, Arctic governance, and maritime safety frameworks
Digital twin experts and developers exploring the integration of advanced modelling, simulation, and observational data
EU projects and research initiatives engaged in digital twin development, climate science, or Arctic studies
Students and early-career researchers aiming to expand their knowledge on digital twin solutions for sea-ice monitoring and applications
Why join?
- Gain a comprehensive view of the current state of the art and future potential of Earth System Digital Twins for sea ice research, from regional applications in the Baltic and Arctic to global-scale Earth system modeling.
- Engage with researchers, developers, and decision-makers to share lessons learned and best practices in digital twin technology.
- Learn about new tools developed to address cryospheric challenges.
- Discuss user needs, technical integration, and opportunities for collaboration across the digital twin ecosystem.
