Advancing climate modelling with a modular digital twin of the cryosphere and land systems

What is TerraDT?

Digital Twins are virtual models that replicate physical systems, enabling accurate simulations and interactivity to support decision-making.
Linked to the Destination Earth (DestinE) initiative, which creates advanced Digital Twins of the Earth, TerraDT enhances the modelling of the Earth system to better understand and predict climate change.

Why it matters

Climate change is intensifying, bringing unprecedented challenges like rising sea levels, extreme weather, and ecosystem shifts.
TerraDT addresses critical gaps in environmental modelling, providing data at km-scale precision to help policymakers, industries, and communities take informed action to combat and adapt to the effects of climate change.

Our innovations

The project will produce a coupling interface integrated with the DestinE infrastructure, New Digital Twin Components (DTCs) and Impact Models covering two areas of interest
